NOTICE: The following sections will not be meeting over the summer months: Music, Books & Views, and La Cadena. (June & July) Meetings resume in September.
Athenaeum section will be meeting twice a month starting August 6th, 2010. On the First and Third Friday of the month they will be having a short meeting followed by a free card party.
ATHENAEUM SECTION:
The Athenaeum Section meets the first Friday of each month. We have a short business meeting and then our members play either Bridge or Canasta. We fund our charities by giving 3 to 4 bridge parties per year and we also take part in our Club's annual Christmas family. This last Christmas we purchased gifts for two of the children in the family and gave money towards their Christmas dinner.
ARTS AND CRAFTS SECTION:
The Arts and Crafts Section will meet every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. during the months of June, July and August. We invite all club members and friends to join us for conversation, cards or working on our various projects. We will continue to work on Comfort Pillows for cancer patients and clipping coupons for the military. We will also be working on some new projects: making baby blankets for the Navy Hospital, watch caps for merchant marines, preemie caps for Children's Hospital and chemo caps for a cancer treatment center. Bring along coupons to be cut and sorted, yarn or fabric that can be used for projects and any ideas you may have for us. In addition, we will be collecting magazines for merchant marines, and greeting cards and self-help books for women at Father Joe's Village.
EVENING STARS SECTION:
The Evening Stars Section meets the second Tuesday of each month. We have a wide range of different and wonderful program speakers. After our programs we socialize and share our views about various current topics. Our members come from various backgrounds and our numbers continue to grow. If you are interested in networking as well as socializing then we are the perfect group for you.
